Kicking off an exhilarating week at re:Invent! Day 1 was a whirlwind of inspiration and insights. From powerful keynotes to engaging discussions, the energy was contagious. I was already soaking in valuable lessons that I can’t wait to apply.
As part of the All builders welcome cohort, we had several empowering chats with AWS employees, some who changed careers and current employees in different departments.
๐ฅ An important topic they touched on was Imposter Syndrome. They gave a reminder that everyone experiences imposter feelings at some point. It usually happens to high achievers that have their standard set up high. You should embrace the journey, celebrate your progress, be kind to yourself and remember that growth often lies just outside your comfort zone.
๐ก Another key idea was around doing More, learning more and staying curious. The key to success is continuous growth. In the tech space things are constantly evolving and you need to keep up to date with the latest changes. Challenge yourself to do more, learn more, and acquire new skills. Each step forward is a step toward excellence.
๐ We were also taught about having Bias for Action. With new ideas we often dwell on the theory and its practicality – instead, have a strong bias to action and not hesitate. Thats where some great ideas come to life. There’s always risk, but leaning on velocity and taking action propels you forward. Embrace the action biasโit’s the engine of progress. There is great value in calculated risk taking. Unsurprisingly, it happens to be one of AWSโs Leadership principles.
I had the great opportunity of meeting Sammy Cheung who is an AWS Ambassador with more certifications than I can count and had the golden jacket for acing all AWS certifications. He shared his journey and his reasons for continuous development. I was both left in awe and inspired.
